State opening protests in London
A number of different protest groups gathered on Parliament Square during the State opening this morning. London, UK, 25/05/2010.
Whilst members of the public were watching the State opening outside Parliament many people gathered on Parliament Square to protest.
One group was concerned with Shaker Aamer, a British citizen who has been detained in Guantanamo for more than 8 years without charge, whilst electoral reform group Take Back Parliament were also there to make their voices heard. The King and Queen of the Government of the Dead held speeches on a range of issues from bringing the troops home to homelessness.
As the Queen went past in her carriage she took little notice of the protests, glancing behind her momentarily.
